Piazza dei Popolo, Rome, Italy

The "twin" baroque churches built in 17th century in Piazza dei Popolo

Walking straight along the road (Via del Corso) in between the 2 churches will lead you back to Monumento Vittorio Emanuele II

Piazza di Spagna & Spanish Steps

Built in 1725 by the French but somehow it's the Spanish who's got the honour - simply because the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See (Vatican City, that is) is located there. At the top of the steps is a church and an area of where the rich and famous (used to?) live and the steps apparently were constructed to connect this area of the well-heeled people to the piazza and shopping streets below it.

  1. I'm sure you already know this that the fountain across the steps is nicknamed 'the Boat' shapes like the sinking boat and it is tradition to drink the water from this fountain.. I passed by this area many times and not once did I do that.. hell, no! ;)

    1. Yup, I know it's knowned as the Boat but didn't know that it's a tradition to drink the water from the fountain. Don't recall seeing anyone rushing to do it; and like you, I won't do it either, haha! In fact, I'm still not used to drinking tap water in hotels, let alone in public places like this :-S

Kat Venice kan, unknown to me, I should have validated my ticket before boarding the train. So I kena denda kat situ! Hmmm... Sebab the yellow machine tu I tak nampak. Melayang 5 Euro. Remember, every cent counts. Sob sob...

    1. Ohh yes! You have to validate your ticket before boarding a train in Italy. I didn't take any train from Venice though. Travelled into Venice from Milan by train, and then flew out of Venice. It was quite nice taking a boat from San Marco to the airport.
